We recently bought a ‘new to us’ home! It is almost vintage quality – most things have not been upgraded since the house was built in 1963! We just decided to paint the outside of the house – before the winter gets here (which seems to be SOON). While painting, we took the old house numbers off, so we needed to have something so people could find us!! During some of the upgrades, we had the chimney lined, and one of the blocks that was on top of our chimney was taken off and left behind….
An idea came to me to use the block, with house numbers and spray paint! I liked the chimney block because it happened to look great with the brick on our house – so I decided to use a reverse color technique to make it stand out.
I took the old house numbers and tried to fit them on the chimney block. I had to bend the numbers a bit to make them wrap around the curved corner of the block. Then, I carefully placed the house numbers on the chimney block and started spraying!
After the paint dried, I removed the numbers. I really like the look of the reverse image and love how it looks on my front porch! Don’t you agree?
