My husband and my fourteenth wedding anniversary was this past January. Unfortunately, the whole family was sick, there was a death in my family and I had to fly out of town. So… no anniversary celebration for us. Our weekends are overrun with traveling for volleyball and birthday’s! So, in a effort to honor our marriage, we decided to leave our kids at home for a Sunday morning and afternoon and just spend time together and do whatever we felt like doing.
My lovely husband suggested a fancy brunch and then the movies and some shopping. Being the high class wife that I am, a politely suggested a diner instead and then walking around downtown and looking at the local shops. My hubby is such a good sport, that he agreed to it! It really was a great way to spend our time together, in a more quiet atmosphere so we able to talk and catch up on each other!
We went to Cheyenne’s our Luxury Diner and had a wonderful breakfast! The staff was friendly, the food was plentiful and the setting was fun! Did I mention that the diner is in an old train car? After a wonderful meal, and eating way too much, we decided to stroll downtown to look in the local shops – something we always talk about doing but somehow are not able to make time for! Just being together on this beautiful winter day, wandering around town and enjoying each other was wonderful!
Always make time for your marriage – it is worth the time invested to reconnect – especially when there are kids, jobs, phones, tablets, sports and so many other takers! It really doesn’t matter if you go out for a fancy meal or find a great local diner to relax in! Just go and be together, it is worth it.
