I LOVE Halloween! The colors, the decorations, the fun, the candy….. So, it only makes sense that when I find these adorable ghost volleyball spandex on Etsy, I had to get them for my daughter! And then, I needed to make a fun shirt to go with the spandex… so the idea of the BOO shirt was created!
Making a fun Halloween Volleyball shirt is so easy and so fun! I decided to make it using the screen printing method, since it is more flexible (great for sports) and something I do not get a chance to do very often!
Screen Printing
I found a reasonably priced screen printing kit on Amazon, from Speedball, a well known name in screen printing! This particular kit is designed for people with a Cricut or Sillouette or other vinyl cutting machine. It includes instructions on how to use the screen for printing, 10 sheets of vinyl and basic cutting instructions so that you will be successful! You can find the kit here.
The Process
The design of this Halloween Volleyball shirt was done in Canva and uploaded into my Cricut Design Space. Once the design is loaded into Cricut Design Space, the vinyl is cut using the mirror feature. After that, it is as simple as sticking the vinyl to the screen. The screen is placed directly on the shirt (centered and flat). Ink is placed above the design and then a squeegee is used to drag the ink across the design. The last step can be done multiple times to ensure good ink coverage of the design.
Carefully lift the screen off the completed design, and allow to dry/cure for 2 to 3 days. Then heat set the design according to the screen printing instructions.
What a fun Halloween Volleyball project!

What a cute shirt! and those workout shorts are so fun. I love the idea of screen printing a custom design. I never knew that something like that was available to us normal minions. I figured it was only available from a large print shop. Thanks for the information – ideas are forming on how else to use this. 🙂
