Looking for a quick and fun update for your house? I am! I have so many LARGE remodeling projects going on (or planned) in my vintage home that sometimes I really need a QUICK and EASY project to make it feel like progress is happening. Paint usually does the trick, but I really am running out of painting projects. So, there are these stairs to our basement that are painted, uncarpeted and B-O-R-I-N-G.
One of my favorite projects was wallpapering my camper with removable, peel and stick wallpaper. It was so easy and make such a major difference in the look of our camper! I really wanted to use the removable wallpaper somewhere in my house. And then it hit me…. BORING stairs and removable wallpaper! BAM! DIY Update to stair risers! So. Excited.

Measure, measure, measure… then cut
This DIY Update is so easy! I measured the height of my stair risers, measured the width and then counted how many stairs we have. We have really wide steps (which is amazing!) so I needed quite a bit of the removable wallpaper. I used NuWallpaper brand peel and stick wallpaper in the Beachwood design. The variety of colors in the wallpaper is beautiful and it coordinates well with my basement family room colors.
I used my self-healing mat with my quilting ruler and rolling cutter to make the cutting progress quickly! I had to cut 32 strips that were 6.5 inches wide, so there was a lot of cutting to do!
Once I had them all cut, I just lined them up and stuck them on the risers. I tried to match patterns across the sections that were cut. Each riser took two strips of removable wallpaper plus about six inches.
After
I think they turned out amazing, and the difference between plain white risers that have been scuffed and dirty, and this beautiful beachwood looking design! You have to try this at your house! It really makes the stairs look more finished!
