Sometimes we need a little pick-me-up. A little piece of brightness in our home. In the winter, the hours of daylight are shorter, there seems to be more grey skies and, of-course, the snow. So much snow this year. Cabin fever can set in and since it is so cold, getting outside isn’t the easiest thing to do. A nice, easy way to freshen up our living space is to make a couple of custom pillow covers. Let a little creativity take over and make something unique for your favorite room!

Design Your Pillow Covers
My couch came with two throw pillows. They were the same color as the couch itself, and also just a little boring for my tastes. So, I measured them (18 inches square) and ordered two new pillow covers in a color that would complement the colors in my room, plum, in my case. For the design on my pillow covers, I used my Cricut Maker machine to cut out two designs that I could iron on for the custom pillow covers. One design I used is a mandala that is included in my Cricut Access subscription. The other design I made using a font that is also included in my Cricut Access subscription, and I just ‘wrote’ the words to be cut out and put a house in place of the ‘o’ in home.
Choosing the right color Cricut iron-on vinyl will make your custom pillow covers pop! In my case, I chose a champagne color to go on the plum color pillows. The champagne vinyl is slightly metallic and is a good match to my couch. And it looks amazing together! I cut both designs out as large as I could get them, in a 12 inch by 12 inch square. Then I used my new Cricut Easy Press to adhere the vinyl to the pillow covers, using the temperature settings based on the vinyl type and fabric type. I am so impressed with the quality product that results from the easy press! I am in love!
With a little planning (or shopping), custom pillow covers can be done in a short amount of time, and look so professional, your friends will ask you where they can buy some just like yours!
